A garage door is a balanced system. The springs lift the weight, the cables and drums carry it, the rollers and tracks guide it, and the opener just steers. When one part wears out, the others take extra strain. That's why a small problem left alone often turns into a bigger repair.

Door off track or hanging crooked

A door that's come out of its track or hangs lower on one side is dangerous to operate. We secure the door, re-set it in the tracks, straighten or replace bent track sections, and fix the cables and rollers that caused it to jump. See off-track garage door repair.

Broken or frayed lift cables

Lift cables run from the bottom brackets to the drums on the spring shaft. When one snaps or unwinds, the door drops on one side. We replace cables in pairs and re-balance the door so both sides lift evenly. See garage door cable repair.

Noisy, shaking or jerky doors

Grinding and squealing usually come from worn steel rollers, dry hinges or loose hardware. We swap in quiet sealed-bearing nylon rollers, tighten and lubricate the hardware, and adjust the track so the door glides.

Door won't close or reverses

If the door starts down and then goes back up, the cause is usually the photo-eye safety sensors. They may be misaligned, dirty or wired badly. It can also be a force setting on the opener. See opener repair.

Bent or damaged panels

Backed into the door? A single damaged section can often be replaced without buying a whole new door, as long as matching panels are still available. If not, we'll walk you through replacement options.

Worn weather seals and drafts

Cracked bottom seals let in cold air, water, leaves and critters, and in winter they freeze to the floor. We replace bottom and perimeter seals to keep the garage drier and warmer.
